WhatsApp is one of the most popular messaging platforms on the planet, and now it’s going to be possible for people to tag users directly.
WhatsApp is rolling out an update that will allow users to type in “@” followed by the user’s name, which will send out a notification in the app to that person. Tagging them will negate any mute filters that user might have in place, whether in an individual chat or in a group chat, so the notification will still show up.
On top of that, the app now supports up to 256 people in a group chat. The previous limit was 100.
The new tagging ability is now available in WhatsApp for both iOS and Android, but not on the web.
What do you think of the new feature?
